Too many families are experiencing financial difficulties, either as a direct result of the hurricane’s impact on their home and personal belongings or as a result of loss of work and income during or after the hurricane. Families are forced to spend whatever they have to meet basic needs, and, unfortunately, this denies children the opportunity to participate in essential extracurricular activities — like soccer. As you can appreciate, many of our kids absolutely love playing; it’s something they look forward to every week. Not playing can mean a sense of loss, a lack of normalcy, loneliness, and even depression.
